5 Step At Home Manicure

Doing your nails at home doesn’t have to be a chore and can save you a fortune!

Follow these 5 steps to the perfect at home manicure.

What you will need:

Nail varnish remover

Cotton pads

A nail file

Your favourite nail varnish

A clear nail varnish

Step 1: Remove any old nail varnish

Take off any nail varnish you already have on so that you’re starting with a clean smooth base, meaning a neater manicure.

Step 2: File your nails

Shape your nails in whatever way you prefer, I usually do round as I find it suits me best.

Step 3: Apply a base coat

Applying a base coat is such an important step as it prevents your nails from staining and evens out the texture so your colour goes on better.

Step 4: Colour

Apply two thin coats of varnish for best results and quicker drying. This is my favourite nail varnish at the moment, its in the colour ‘mink’ from M&S.

Step 5: Topcoat

Apply a topcoat to ensure your nails are shiny and help them to stay chip free for longer.

February 2017 Glossybox Unboxing

I received my first ever glossy box a couple of days ago and was pleasantly surprised. It came gorgeously packaged in this ‘LOVE’ box to celebrate valentines day and contained five lovely products, four of which were full size. I can’t wait to try them all out!

The first item I pulled out was this L’eau de rose perfume by Jeanne Arthes which smells divine, i’m usually not a huge fan of rose scents as they’re overpowering but this one is really light and girly. It’s also perfect handbag size so you can have a spritz when you need a boost throughout the day.

The second product that I saw was this Ciate nail varnish in ‘fade to greige’. I’m definitely going to be using this, I love this kind of colour on pale skin it’s so flattering.

This Garnier ultimate blends intense care hair mask could not have arrived at a better time, my hair has been so dry since getting it dyed. It’s also a great sized sample and could last for a couple of uses.

The box also contained this mineral-rich volcanic face mask enriched with anti-aging ingredients which helps to cleanse and purify the skin. It’s going to be great for removing all of the dirt and grime off my face at the end of the day and leave it smooth and clear.

This lipstick from MDM flow in the shade ‘Bossy’ lasts all day on the lips as the semi-matte formula gives you the matte look without the cracked, dry lips – love it!

Favourite brand: Kiko

I had never even heard of Kiko until about a month ago and it’s quickly becoming my favourite brand ever! I’ve tried quite a few different products over the past few weeks so I decided to share some of them with you.

Ultra Tech Curve Mascara

This is honestly the best mascara that i’ve ever used, it is also one of Kiko’s best selling and I can definitely see why! It leaves my lashes looking thick and volumised without being clumpy and can be built up for an amazing dramatic look or you can apply less for every day wear.

Ultra Tech Curve Mascara

It’s also extremely well priced at £7.20 and seems to be on offer for around £3.50 too.

Velvet Satin Nail Lacquer

These nail varnishes dry within seconds and leave a gorgeous matte finish. They also last for around a week without chipping and come in a wide variety of colours. I have 696 titanium lilac, 695 ivory taupe and 697 midnight blue.

Velvet Satin Nail Lacquer

They cost around £4.90 and are limited edition so make sure you give them a try before they go!

Bronzer Powder

This leaves my pale skin looking naturally bronzed and lasts all day long. It comes in six different colours so there’s guaranteed to be one to suit you!

It costs around £9.90 and I use shade 100 honey beige.

These are the Kiko products i’ve tried so far but I have my eye on a few more to try out in the future!

Have any of you tried any Kiko products?

Review: Sally Hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen

I bought one of these nail pens in the shade ‘Fuchsia chrome’ when i was in TJhughes the other day for £2.99. I honestly didn’t expect much of it but was intrigued by the packaging and quick drying no fuss claim. I thought it was going to be messy and awkward to use but  decided to give it a go as I’ve used (and loved) many Sally Hansen products in the past. I can’t even express how pleasantly surprised I was, the perfectly sized brush applies just the right amount of varnish to each nail (avoiding the over spill I usually have where there’s more on my fingers than my actual nail) and is literally dry by the time you’ve done the next nail which i think is absolutely fantastic as I waste half my life waiting for nail varnish to dry.

I’m not sure what price they usually retail for, but I know they’re available on Amazon for £1.99 as I’ve just purchased three more colours; orange, red and dusk which is a pale pink.

I suggest you all give them a try, I guarantee you will not regret it.

Review: Avon Speed Dry+ Nail Enamel

Avon never fails to impress me; their affordable products are always amazing quality. This nail varnish is no different, it dries within thirty seconds (which is perfect if you’re as impatient as me) and leaves your nails with a glossy, streak free finish. It also lasts at least a week before chipping, which is always a plus. Mine is in the shade ‘Ballerina’ however I think I may purchase another one of the six gorgeous shades they sell.

Retails at £6.00

My most used..

Everyone has those few staple items which they really couldn’t replace, despite how many new things they buy. For example; a bag which goes with every outfit, or a pair of extremely comfortable shoes.

I’m going to show you my all time favourite items, from clothes to make up.

My most used:

Lipstick

This lipstick is amazing, it is extremely moisturising and gives your lips the perfect subtle peachy/orange colour. It is from Avon and is in the shade ‘silky peach’.

Foundation

I use this mineral foundation on a daily basis. It gives an extremely natural look as if you aren’t wearing foundation at all, whilst still covering  your imperfections. Mine is in the shade ‘fairly light’.

 Blusher

This blusher is from The Body Shop and is in the shade ’01 Petal’. It’s absolutely brilliant and gives even the dullest skin an instant, natural looking glow.

Nail Polish

I love this coral coloured nail polish from Collection 2000. The shade (‘fruit salad’) is perfect for summer and lasts for a long time.

Perfume

I honestly couldn’t choose a favourite between these two perfumes, they both smell amazing! Loverdose by Diesel is quite a strong scent, whereas Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflowers is light, fresh and perfect for everyday wear.

Hair product

This leave in conditioner from Avon is a life saver, it makes my hair so soft and lasts for three washes. I apply it once a week to the ends of my hair after showering and it helps to prevent split ends and keeps my hair looking and feeling healthy.

Moisturiser

The Body Shop’s coconut body butter is absolutely brilliant; it smells amazing, sinks in really well and keeps my skin so soft.

Earrings

These earrings are my absolute favourite;  they go with everything and are the perfect size. Unfortunately, I’m not sure where they’re from as they were a birthday gift.

Bag

I got this bag from H&M last year and I haven’t stopped wearing it since. It’s a really good size and allows me to carry just the right amount.

Shoes

These shoes go with everything and are extremely comfortable. They were a bargain too; I got them for £10 from Madhouse.

Coat

I wear this coat from from House of Fraser constantly; the leather is so soft and it is extremely flattering. It was a little bit pricey originally, however I got it on sale for £100 from £275 .
