I absolutely love experimenting with different lipsticks, especially in the winter months. Bold lips are also a great way to dress up your look without having to put any extra effort in, perfect for lazy girls! I’m going to share with you my top three favourites for pale skin.
#1 Topshop ‘Inhibition’
This lipstick is a gorgeous dark berry colour which is perfect for Christmas parties! It goes on smoothly and leaves an incredibly pigmented matte finish which lasts for hours – even after eating! I can’t wait to try more from Topshop’s makeup line in the future.
#2 Natural collection ‘Berry Blush’
This lipstick is perfect if your looking to try out a new colour but don’t want to spend a lot as it only costs £1.99! It’s also a more subtle way to wear a berry shade making it great for everyday wear.
#3 Rimmels ‘Diva Red’
This is the most moisturising of the three, I have really chapped lips at the moment but this just glides over my lips and doesn’t sink into any dry patches. I love the colour too, its the only red shade i’ve found that compliments my ghostly white skin.
What’s your favourite Lipstick at the moment?
I’ve been experimenting a lot over the past few months with different fake tans, some of which left me looking streaky and awful and a select few leaving me with a gorgeous natural looking glow. Today i’m going to share with you my top three tanners this summer!
#1 Garnier Ambre Solaire No Streaks Bronzer
I absolutely love this tanner! Read what I think about it here.
#2 Dove Summer Glow
This gradual tanner gives my skin a natural, glowing tan without the awful smell. It also goes on smoothly, does not go streaky and can be applied just like a normal moisturizer with your hands (as long as you give them a wash afterwards!)
I find that the shade ‘light to medium’ works best on my skin tone.
#3 Garnier Summer Body
This is an amazing product! It leaves my skin feeling extremely soft for days and gives a gorgeous, natural looking colour which fades evenly. It also sinks in instantly meaning you can get dressed straight after application without that horrible sticky feeling. I usually apply it around 2-3 times a week to keep it topped up and glowing!
Have you tried any of these self tanners?
Benefit Gimme Brow is a tinted brow-volumizing fiber gel. It looks almost like a mini mascara and needs to be applied in gentle strokes until you reach the desired look. Most importantly, it gives an extremely natural looking finish and is quick and easy to use; perfect for when you’re doing your makeup in a hurry.
Its also has amazing staying power, I wear it for around 12 hours on average and it does not budge at all! I’ll definitely be repurchasing.
It retails at around £18.50 and I wear the shade medium/deep.
Have any of you tried it out? If yes, what do you think?
Let me start off by telling you how awful I am at applying self tan, I usually end up with patches of orange all over my body with horrendous patchy hands. I gave up a while ago and decided to just apply my beloved Dove ‘summer glow’ gradual tanner whenever I wanted a bit of colour.
That was until one sunny day while I was sitting in the garden desperately trying to get some sort of colour from the sun, reading the latest Look magazine. There was an interview with Michelle Keegan talking about the tan that she uses, and since she’s always so gorgeous and brown I decided to give it a go. I purchased my bottle from Boots where its reduced at the moment to £7.79 from £11.69.
Prior to application I moisturised my whole body with my Soap and Glory ‘The righteous butter’ to ensure that I didn’t have any dry patches and let it sink in. After about 15 minutes I finally applied the dry body mist all over my body, including my face, and let it dry for a few minutes. It felt instantly dry and I didn’t feel sticky at all so I put my pjs straight on and went to bed. The next morning I woke up to bronzed, slightly orange tinted skin but after showering I was left with a gorgeous natural looking even tan. Even my back was perfectly tanned and I really struggled to reach it. I also applied it the next night and was left with an even nicer, deeper colour. I’m now just going to apply it once a week or so to top it up.
The only thing That I would say is that it can stain the bottoms of your feet (even if you wipe them after application) and its such a fine mist that it can be so easy to apply too much! I would definitely reccomend giving this self tanner a go if your a beginner or are looking to try out something new.
I use the medium shade as I am naturally very pale and thought the dark would be too extreme.
Have any of you tried it yet?
I absolutely love trying out new mascaras and have tested so many over the years that I thought it would be a good idea to share with you my top 5 favorites of all time. So whether you’re looking to buy a new mascara because your running out or just go a bit crazy testing them out like me, keep reading!
#1 – Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless
This has to be the best mascara I’ve ever used, it makes your lashes extremely long and thick and doesn’t clump what so ever. It’s also great for achieving any look, from natural to an almost false effect depending on the amount you apply and holds up amazing throughout the day – no signs smudging or flaking at all!
Retails at around £7.99
#2 – Maybelline The Falsies
This mascara is great for giving extremely thick looking lashes as its specially designed curved brush coats every lash giving a fuller, more dramatic look.
Retails at around £7.99
#3 – 17 Blow Out Mascara
Read review on this mascara here: http://youniquechic.com/2012/08/
Retails at around £4.00
#4 – Avon Super Extend Mascara
This mascara is amazing for a more natural look as it gives lashes length but not much volume. Perfect for daily wear and holds a curl really well.
Retails at around £10
#5 – Soap And Glory Thick&Fast
The huge brush on this mascara helps to thicken the lashes whilst giving a lot of volume and curl. My only issue is that it works amazing for the first few weeks but seems to dry up quickly.
Retails at around £10
What’s your favourite mascara?
I’m going to share with you 5 of my absolute essential skin and hair care items for these hot summer months.
My lips always get extremely dry and cracked during the summer, so I always make sure that I use a good quality lip balm with SPF in it to not only stop them getting chapped, but to protect them from the sun too.
One of my favourites at the moment is Carmex cherry lip balm as it lasts for ages on my lips, smells amazing and has SPF 15.
It’s also extremely important to protect your skin from the sun, so I use Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock.
I’ve got a review of this here.
Coconut oil is absolutely brilliant. It can be used as a hair mask twice a week to help promote healthy growth and leaves your hair feeling so soft! All you do is apply it from root to tip, then leave it for at least half an hour and wash it out. It’s also a brilliant moisturiser to use on those drier areas such as your elbows and knees.
Having oily skin in the summertime is awful, it just seems to look ten times worse. However, changing my moisturiser during the summer to Neutrogena’s visibly clear oil free moisturiser helps to stop my skin getting as shiny throughout the day. The extremely light formula also helps to prevent breakouts.
BB cream is a great alternative to foundation during the summer as it covers up any imperfections whilst still being extremely lightweight and natural looking. I use Garnier’s BB cream, you can find a review here.
I hope i’ve given you some tips or ideas.
What are your summer essentials?
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I received a sample of this whilst in Boots a few weeks ago and after trying it I just absolutely fell in love! It covers up your imperfections whilst leaving you with a dewy natural looking glow, perfect!
The cream is an all in one blemish balm which provides 24 hour hydration, UV protection and a light coverage. It retails at around £9.99 which is a fantastic price as only a small amount is required to cover the entire face. The product comes in various shades which means that there is no worry of it not matching your skin tone which is usually quite common in these types of creams.
I can’t recommend this product enough, try it for yourself!
