Max Factor 2000 Calorie Curl Addict

I’m a huge fan of the original 2000 calorie mascara, and max factor mascaras in general, so when I saw the new curl addict mascara being advertised I knew I had to try it out. It claims to ‘create outrageous volume’ while ‘lifting and curling lashes for a wide awake look’ which sounds perfect to someone with limp straight eyelashes.

It’s definitely a new favourite! It holds a curl perfectly and doesn’t flake or smudge all day long. I also don’t need my eyelash curler when using it as it does such a great job on its own.

It retails at £7.99

Step 1 – Prime

L’Oreal Paris False Lash Sculpt Mascara

After running out of the third bottle of my beloved Kiko ‘ultra tech curve’ mascara I was looking around in Boot’s to try out something different. I decided to buy the L’Oreal Paris false lash sculpting mascara because it was on offer and the brush looked quite intriguing.

Image result for L’Oreal Paris false lash sculpting

The sculpting brush is said to ‘line the waterline for a tightlining effect with no gaps and sculpts out lashes, defining them to reveal sculpted looking lashes from every angle.’

IMG_20160403_112053IMG_20160403_112105

At first I wasn’t sure as the plastic brush looked like it would leave my straight, limp lashes looking clumpy but with just one coat they were left long and thick. It’s also very buildable and lasts perfectly all day – the photos above were taken at around 5.30pm and I applied it at 6am! I will definitely be repurchasing.

It retails at around £7.99

Favourite brand: Kiko

I had never even heard of Kiko until about a month ago and it’s quickly becoming my favourite brand ever! I’ve tried quite a few different products over the past few weeks so I decided to share some of them with you.

Ultra Tech Curve Mascara

This is honestly the best mascara that i’ve ever used, it is also one of Kiko’s best selling and I can definitely see why! It leaves my lashes looking thick and volumised without being clumpy and can be built up for an amazing dramatic look or you can apply less for every day wear.

Ultra Tech Curve Mascara

It’s also extremely well priced at £7.20 and seems to be on offer for around £3.50 too.

Velvet Satin Nail Lacquer

These nail varnishes dry within seconds and leave a gorgeous matte finish. They also last for around a week without chipping and come in a wide variety of colours. I have 696 titanium lilac, 695 ivory taupe and 697 midnight blue.

Velvet Satin Nail Lacquer

They cost around £4.90 and are limited edition so make sure you give them a try before they go!

Bronzer Powder

This leaves my pale skin looking naturally bronzed and lasts all day long. It comes in six different colours so there’s guaranteed to be one to suit you!

It costs around £9.90 and I use shade 100 honey beige.

These are the Kiko products i’ve tried so far but I have my eye on a few more to try out in the future!

Have any of you tried any Kiko products?

Benefit Roller Lash – Worth The Hype?

After writing about this mascara in my ‘Makeup/Skincare Wishlist’ post I decided to finally give it a try! I’ve been using it for the past week and can honestly tell you that it definitely is worth the hype. It curls lashes perfectly, meaning there is absolutely no need for an eyelash curler unless you’re going for a really dramatic look (as seen below). I put two coats on which leaves my lashes looking long and thick – but if you like a more natural look one will suffice.

Benefit claim that the Roller Lash mascara works so well due to the ‘Hook n Roll brush’ which is said to grab, separate, lift and curl (using the same idea as hair rollers)…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours. I can vouch that it really does last that long; I put my makeup on at 6.30am and when I get home at 6pm this mascara hasn’t budged at all! Perfect for when you need your makeup to last all day.

It’s a little more than I would usually pay for a mascara at £19.50 from Boots, but it really does what it claims to and is definitely worth a try if you have limp, hard to curl lashes like I do.

Review: Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara

I’ve always struggled to find a mascara that will hold my limp straight lashes in place all day without flaking or smudging, and even ones I thought I liked dried up after a few weeks of use. I recently decided to try out Max Factors Clump defy extensions false lash effect as it was on offer at boots and I was pleasantly surprised.  The brush is curved to coat every lash, and its plastic too which I find causes less clumps. The formula also holds my lashes in a curl perfectly and stays in place all day without transferring under or above my eyes.

If you want long, thick, separated lashes it’s definitely worth giving it a try.

It retails and around £12

#1 – Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless

This has to be the best mascara I’ve ever used, it makes your lashes extremely long and thick and doesn’t clump what so ever. It’s also great for achieving any look, from natural to an almost false effect depending on the amount you apply and holds up amazing throughout the day – no signs smudging or flaking at all!

Retails at around £7.99

#2 – Maybelline The Falsies

This mascara is great for giving extremely thick looking lashes as its specially designed curved brush coats every lash giving a fuller, more dramatic look.

Retails at around £7.99

#3 – 17 Blow Out Mascara

Read review on this mascara here: http://youniquechic.com/2012/08/

Retails at around £4.00

#4 – Avon Super Extend Mascara

This mascara is amazing for a more natural look as it gives lashes length but not much volume. Perfect for daily wear and holds a curl really well.

Retails at around £10

#5 – Soap And Glory Thick&Fast

The huge brush on this mascara helps to thicken the lashes whilst giving a lot of volume and curl. My only issue is that it works amazing for the first few weeks but seems to dry up quickly.

Retails at around £10

Weekly Favourite

Each week I’m going to tell you about my favourite thing; whether it be a person, product or something else.

This weeks favourite is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

I absolutely adore this cleanser, it wipes of every trace of my makeup (including the most stubborn mascara) with minimal effort. All you do is massage it into dry skin, then wipe away grime and stubborn mascara using the muslin cloth supplied.

It is a bit on the pricey side at £24 for 200ml however only a small amount is required and honestly, it’s worth paying for a product that really works.

Do any of you have a favourite cleanser? Or have you tried the Cleanse & Polish before?

Weekly Favourite

Each week I’m going to tell you about my favourite thing; whether it be a person, product or something else.

My favourite this week is 17 Blow Out Mascara

I was slightly sceptical about purchasing this mascara as I hadn’t tried any 17 mascaras before, but it’s claim to give my lashes 12 times more volume won me over.

After one use I knew I was going to repurchase it; the huge brush makes my lashes look long and thick whilst ensuring they don’t clump together and the perfect formula contains vitamin E and Argan Oil to help condition and boost lash body. It also lasts all day without flaking or smudging and is very reasonably priced at £6.29.

Why not give it a try?
