La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm

A few weeks ago I had an allergic reaction to a product I was using and was left with a huge rash over my neck and cheek. I tried every moisturizer i own and changed everything from my shampoo to washing powder but it still wouldn’t budge.

After a week i went to Boots and asked a member of staff if they knew a cream that would help to heal it, and was told to use La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm. The cream cost around £15 which i thought was a little steep but at this point i was willing to try anything.

After one use the rash shrunk and looked less inflamed and a few days later it was completely gone; this cream also works wonders on any dry areas of skin such as elbows and knees.

I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough, if your looking for a great moisturizer or can’t get a dry patch or rash to budge then give it a go, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Weekly Favourite/DIY

Each week I’m going to tell you about my favourite thing; whether it be a person, product or something else.

My favourite this week is my DIY egg white face mask.

If you have oily, acne prone or old skin, this mask is for you. It tightens and smooths out the skin whilst leaving it incredibly soft. I’ve been using it once or twice a week for the past few weeks and have noticed a major improvement to my overall complexion. I also tried it on my mam to see if it would work for her, and it did. It left her skin both looking feeling younger.

All you need to do is whisk an egg white, apply it to your face and leave for 10-20 minutes until it is dry. Then wash off and voila, gorgeous skin!

Do any of you have any home made masks you love? Or have you tried this one?

Top 3 Face Masks

Having oily, sensitive skin makes finding face masks that work an impossible challenge, they always seem to be too harsh and leave my skin feeling irritated and raw. Finally, after a lot of awful experiences, I’ve found three masks that do wonderful things to my skin.

I’m going to tell you about each of them, in no particular order.

The Body Shop’s Honey & Oat 3 In 1 Scrub Mask

This mask is absolutely brilliant, I use it once a week to soften and gently exfoliate my skin. I would recommend it for all skin types as it is gentle but gives great results as it is so moisturising. It also smells lovely and is easy to apply.

Retails at £9

The Body Shop’s Warming Mineral Mask

I’ve been using this mask for years now, and could honestly never replace it. I use it once a week to give my skin a deep cleanse. It gently warms up when  applied to the skin so it can unclog pores and prevent spots. When rinsed off after the five minutes, it leaves the skin feeling squeaky clean, yet not dry and tight.

Retails at £9

Sanctuary Moisture Boosting Mask

I use this mask whenever my skin is looking dull as it gives the skin a gorgeous healthy glow.  It also seems to calm redness and improves my skin tone and texture.

Retails at £2.03 per sachet

I hope I’ve helped anyone who is struggling to find a good mask.

Top 5 Summer Essentials

I’m going to share with you 5 of my absolute essential skin and hair care items for these hot summer months.

Lipbalm

My lips always get extremely dry and cracked during the summer, so I always make sure that I use a good quality lip balm with SPF in it to not only stop them getting chapped, but to protect them from the sun too.

One of my favourites at the moment is Carmex cherry lip balm as it lasts for ages on my lips, smells amazing and has SPF 15.

Sunscreen

It’s also extremely important to protect your skin from the sun, so I use Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock.

I’ve got a review of this here.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is absolutely brilliant. It can be used as a hair mask twice a week to help promote healthy growth and leaves your hair feeling so soft! All you do is apply it from root to tip, then leave it for at least half an hour and wash it out. It’s also a brilliant moisturiser to use on those drier areas such as your elbows and knees.

Light Moisturiser

Having oily skin in the summertime is awful, it just seems to look ten times worse. However, changing my moisturiser during the summer to Neutrogena’s visibly clear oil free moisturiser helps to stop my skin getting as shiny throughout the day. The extremely light formula also helps to prevent breakouts.

BB cream

BB cream is a great alternative to foundation during the summer as it covers up any imperfections whilst still being extremely lightweight and natural looking. I use Garnier’s BB cream, you can find a review here.

I hope i’ve given you some tips or ideas.

Weekly Favourite

Each week I’m going to tell you about my favourite thing; whether it be a person, product or something else.

My favourite this week is Coconut oil.

Product Image For <br />Pure Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been an absolute staple in my daily routine; it removes my make up, moisturises my skin and leaves my hair unbelievably soft and healthy.

I got my coconut oil from Holland and Barrett, however I’m sure you’ll be able to find it in similar shop near you.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock

Wearing a sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun is extremely important, especially during the summer time. However, having oily skin makes this extremely difficult as most sun creams tend to be really greasy and make my skin look awful.

Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock sinks into my skin extremely quickly due to its non-greasy formula and leaves the skin with a matte finish; this means that it does not clog my pores and cause me acne like other sunblocks. It also means that my makeup lasts longer as my skin is less oily, bonus!

The cream comes in various SPF values up to 100+, therefore you will be able to find the one that suits you. So if your in the market for a great sunscreen, Neutrogena’s ultra sheer dry-touch sunblock a brilliant alternative to ones from higher end brands. Unfortunately it is unavailable to buy in the UK, however if you order it online it retails at around $10 which isn’t bad at all, especially for something that works so well.

No7 Cleanse & Care Eye Make up Remover

Let me start out by telling you how awfully sensitive my skin is; using something too harsh can cause it to turn into a huge uncomfortable rash. This makes removing my eye make up at night an incredibly daunting task, as most of the time I’m left with puffy, sore eyes.

That was until I started using No7 Cleanse & Care Eye Make up Remover. After trying other make up removers from brands such as Simple and having awful results I had pretty much given up. However, after one use of this product I knew I was going to repurchase it. It takes off every last trace of even the most stubborn mascara, whilst still being extremely gentle on my skin. The 100ml bottle lasts for months too as only a small amount is needed to cleanse each eye.

It retails at around £7.75 which isn’t too bad as it works absolutely brilliantly. I honestly could not recommend this enough, especially if you have skin like mine.

Home Made Mask For Soft Hands And Feet

With the summer holidays fast approaching I thought I would share my secret on how to prevent dry, cracked feet and ensure they are sandal ready! This mask will also keep your hands extremely soft and is easy and cheap too!

All you will need is:

  • Olive Oil
  • A pair of socks (or two if you’re planning on doing both your hands and feet with the mask)
  • Salt
Here’s how to do it:
1) Wash your hands/feet and remove any nail polish if you want to achieve the best results.
2) Pour two tablespoons of olive oil into a small bowl and then add a tablespoon of salt and mix them together.
3) Apply the mixture onto your hands/feet and rub on in circular motions focusing on the driest areas.
4) Rinse off the mixture with warm water.
5) Onto dry hands/feet, apply a thin layer of olive oil and massage it in.
6) Put the socks onto your hands/feet and relax and let the oil sink in. You should leave these on for 15 minutes at least, however I find it works best and is more convenient for me to do it overnight.
7) If you aren’t leaving the socks on overnight, remove the socks and rinse off the oil with warm water when you feel it has been on long enough and you’ll feel how soft and smooth your skin is straight away. Your nails will also look healthy and glowing.
Doing this once a week or whenever you feel your hands/feet need it will really help you to maintain soft healthy skin. This mask is extremely easy to do and can be done whilst you sleep; so there is no excuse not to try it!

Sudocrem – Acne cure?

Let me start out by saying I suffer from extremely sensitive skin, so attempting to banish my acne seems to do more harm than good. However, after reading raving review of various people using Sudocrem on their skin I decided to give it a go. The cream is mainly known for being used on nappy rashes, although it has proven to be an extremely effective acne treatment and many people swear by it.

I have been using this cream for a few weeks now, and it really is a miracle! It moisturises my skin whilst soothing redness and making my spots disappear so much faster than they do naturally. I apply a thin coating all over my face before bed each night, avoiding my eye area, and when I wake up my skin is a lot less irritated. After the three weeks I have been using it, around 90% of my spots have vanished, and the ones I do have are somehow a lot less noticeable.

I really recommend this cream to anyone suffering from acne. It’s the quick fix everyone wants, and it only costs around £2-3! So why not give it a go? It might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
